Congestion Pricing Could Be Used To Help Sustain City

New York City has been described as the center of the world, a city that sets trends for others to follow. While, in this case, we can't claim to be the first (London, Curitiba and Madrid all beat us to the punch) we are finally taking some steps that will allow us to catch up with these new trend setters. I sincerely hope that the city council will line up behind the Mayor's initiatives and give them a chance to clean up our act. These initiatives are long overdue and even, according to some, too little too late. However, I am hopeful that we still have time to reverse or slow down some of the negative effects that have resulted from our sloppy, pollutive and wasteful living habits. As for Walter McCaffrey, perhaps he is unaware that less than 25% of Manhattanites actually own cars. HIs is an antiquated way of thinking and belongs to the past along with Robert Moses. I wonder if Mr. McCaffrey even lives in Manhattan. I do, and I am looking forward to the day when cars will no longer be given precedence over pedestrians, bikes and public transit. Kudos to Mayor Bloomberg!
