King of the Tenors

The review of Florez is condescending and off-base. Actually, Florez was a bit tired in the encores, including the last three. He took long pauses before high notes because of tiredness. He got them out and they were thrilling. He was tired because the program was terribly taxing. His voice and technique were sensational; his interpretations excellent. I had to go beyond young Pavarotti to Bjorling in the 1950s to find an operatic recitalist who thrilled me as much. His voice is light but in his repertoire, Florez is unbeatable.
