I have animals and I feel a kinship with all other people who love animals and take on the responsible of caring for them. Even though it is our choice and we get great pleasure from having them, I do not feel that we should pay taxes to have them. WE ARE HELPING SOCIETY by adopting homeless animals. All my animals were either abandoned on the streets or I adopted at the pound. I know plenty of people like me who take on this responsibility and cost -- and it is a cost. As it is, many people cannot afford to give their pets proper health care or proper nutrition --- but they love their animals and do the best they can for them. If anything, we should be helping these people -- not burdening them with an extra tax! This sounds like a backfire plan to me -- as now many of those same people who would think about saving an animal from a shelter may think twice. Not to mention that now people on a budget will think twice about buying that food or treat for their beloved animal. And, by the way, people who have animals are more than likely the people who give to nonprofit animals organizations already. I do. I think it is wrong to put this extra burden on people who are already helping animals. There has to be a better alternative.
