Vampiric Capitalism In Godard's Paris

As Verdi said of Wagner, "There are wonderful moments, it is the quarters of hours that are intolerable" or words to that effect. So too with Godard, sublime moments yes but those very things your reviewer finds so appealing, the cut up narrative, the teasing cul de sacs of image and voice over, the metaphysical nuggets mixed up with the almost inevitable French Higher Clap Trap are intellectually unrewarding and emotional unsatisfying. The style is the content and some people find that wonderful. It just leaves out most of life which was what cinema was supposed to be so good at capturing and illuminating.
