‘Issue Ads' Case May Set Limits of Public Discourse in 2008

Submitted by Patrick Henry Tweedy, Apr 24, 2007 23:28

I am proud to live in a country where we are able to speak freely about just about any subject we like. I do not agree with a lot of the loons, as to what they say, but that is their right. We have fought and died for our country, just so we could be free and have this right. What I do not agree with now is the McCain-Feingold bill that seals the lips of some groups before elections. It makes no differance who or what the group wants to say, they should be able to speak their mind. The purpose of this bill was to shut down groups of people that congress did not want to speak out before national elections. Wrong-Wrong, that is not what our fore-fathers intended for the first admendment to do. All should have free speech before, during, after and whenever we want to be heard. Period. Period. End of discusion. No-one on capital hill has the right to tell us or the NRA or any group when to shut-up. My name is Patrick Henry and I know another Patrick Henry that thought the same way I do.
