Albany Mulls an Apology for Slavery

Submitted by Kendra, Apr 25, 2007 01:38

Sure, they'll officially apologize to the descendants of slaves, again, but they will not uphold soviergnty of Indian Nations and Federal Laws which affect American Indians. If there is any sort of racism that the state of New York needs to address through our government system it is NOT those being sensationalized by the media... rather it is those issues that politics is sweeping under the rug and are not meeting the attention of the press.

Enough is enough already. Minorities may need recognition in some area, but not like this. As a country and as a state we are never going to rise above the worst of ourselves if we continue to look back and apologize for the past instead of working on structuring a more supportive and productive future. This is simply ridiculous.

The fact that Chapter 137 still exists proves that our government is not always the most intelligent. If we really want to act through the legislature to appease Keith Wright I feel it is much more appropriete to take Chapter 137 of the 1817 laws and strike them from all law books or some kind of similar measure.

When will the voters of New York finally have enough of the overly publicized "Political Correctness" and take up the power of the pen and write to the legislature or pick up the phone and call their representatives?!? We need to stop feeling helpless and let our government know that we do not want to fund such foolishness and elected them to use their time in the chamber for productive purposes in OUR interests.
