Obama Claims ‘Unwavering' Support for Israel

Submitted by Shmuel BenYosef, Apr 25, 2007 07:47

Will the Democrats accept the understandings in the Bush letter to Sharon or will they slip back to the policy of appeasing terrorism? The boundaries of Land for Peace, roughly along the defensive wall, has been pretty well decided and is in compliance with UN Res 242. The policy of "Even Handedness" however, came to mean legitimizing terror tactics and strategy, and delegitmizing Israel's response. Bush has distanced himself from this "evenhandedness" to a more fair and balanced stance. Will the Democrats turn back the clock? They certainly are not saying, but Pelosi's visit and persistent calls on Bush to restart the so called peace process indicate regression. Unless they are specific on this issue, a la McCain style, the many visits the candidates made and their non-specific statements of support just means they want the Jewish vote.
