Isn't the decline in NYC's relative position a reflection of the decline of the US dollar and economy?Generally creditor nation's are not the financial capital of the world.
This point is so obvious and never discussed by "fiscal conservatives" in the GOP. Note the term "fiscal conservative" has morphed into tax cutting and not a balanced budget. It will be interesting if the democrats are the de facto party of fiscal conservatism for the third time in 30 years and thereby spurring another round of GOP tax cuts and deficits. I suspect the democrats have changed and will not be eisenhower republicans this time, calling the deficit a problem to be solved over a generation.
