Does anyone else find this kind of thinking disturbing? McWhorter seems convinced that the kids on that train are inferior people, typical crime-prone Negroes who couldn't possibly be responding to stimuli or acclimating themselves in a hostile environment. As you read this article keep in mind that McWhorter doesn't ever address the behavior - he never assumes the responsibility to walk to the other side of the train and show those kids a better way. I guess complaining and collecting royalties for speaking engagements will suffice. Someone has to speak up for those students. Thanks for nothing, Dr. McWhorter.
