The One Best Idea

This was supposed to be one of Bush's pledges - to cut down on the groundless lawsuits brought about by lawyers on any company whose stock drops significantly. And yet, as a self-directed investor, my mailbox continues to fill with lawyers' enticements (there is no better word for it) to be included in class action suits. Even when the settlement would be mere pennies. Even when I haven't lost any money (I most be the only person who actually made money on Enron). Even when no matter how carefully and diligiently I fill out the paperwork, collect the necessary forms, at my own expense - they still disinclude me in the settlement. Hmmm, it seems someone else is profiting from all these lawsuits. Not the shareholders. Not the company. Could it be...the lawyers?
