If we as a country pursue nuclear energy, we will be endorsing it as an energy solution through out the world. Despite what the nuclear energy proponents say, this will lead to more nuclear material and nuclear weapons around the world. We should not attempt to solve one problem by creating many others. Nuclear energy is a viable option only because we have invested billions if not trillions developing its use and it still poses many dangerous problems. Instead of subsidizing an uninsurable industry let us really develop clean and safe energy options.
