Coach Class
in response to reader comment: And how DOES the teaching go?

Submitted by Maury Leon, Apr 27, 2007 14:40

God, what a disappointment: I though this article was about 'Coach' bags, or shoes or other stuff, stuff that's important. Instead it's not even about 'coach,' such as in baseball, basketball, football or other sports. Coaches for teachers? I thought 'teacher' and 'coach' were the same: one who helps a person do something better. So you have a 'coach' coaching a teacher, who is a coach. Just like the Bored of Education. New Yorkers, don't be disappointed: most Boards of Education are bored of education, but that's where the money is. Contrary to what most people think, there IS money education. Ask the 'private- and connected- educators' feeding at the trough of 'No Child Left Behind.'

One of your readers comments about the cozy relationship between Teacher's Colleges and the NYC Board of Education. Why not, the BoE is where the money is (see last paragraph).

I've been involved in education, mostly public school education for forty years - from NYC to Los Angeles and in between. I've known a lot of teachers, supervisors, department chairs - and seats - and administrators. Many teachers are sincere, highly skilled, committed individuals: others are getting away with impersonating a teacher.
