Mark Moyar, Historian of Vietnam, Finds Academe Hostile to a Hawk

Submitted by Constantine A. Papas, Apr 30, 2007 05:46

It's amazing the hostility Mr. Moyar encountered, despite his unique credentials. I'm wondering if these so called "professors" and "academics" have ever read Aristotle and Plato. How the principle of "inquiry" can be applied without a dialogue and debate? Monolithic concepts in history to serve ideology and politics will deprive young sudents- the future leaders of our nation- the process and dynamics of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. Denying the courtesy of an interview to a young scholar of Mr. Moyar's stature is the worst kind of academic provincialism. Maybe Mr. Moyar's intellect was too intimidating to some old and rusty minds incapable to differential thinking and objectivity! I have read both of Mr. Moyar's books and he, as a scientist-historian, chronicles undisputed facts and not sentments.
