The salary levels of these people should be compared to those of other CEO's in the for profit sector. As just one example, the CEO for Sallie Mae "earned" over $41,000,000 two years ago. If the press wants to do its job, it should look into the massive abuses among for profit education-related industries, such as the student loan sector, textbook publishers, and the whole notion of tenure among professors. With the advent of the internet, the cost of education should be going DOWN, not up. Something is out of whack, but these salaries are not the primary reason, or even a large part of the reason.
