Mayor Bloomberg's latest proposal to impose a draconian eight dollar (DAILY) tax on automobile owners, is but one more nail in this city's middle class coffin. Especially because this tax will apply solely in Manhattan and below 86th Street, one cannot help but sense that his vision is really that of turning Manhattan into a gated community. One could reasonably argue that Manhattan is well away to becoming a gated community anyway, and that Bloomberg is merely nudging it towards that eventuality.
I think it might also be time for us to start sending tea bags to our various government officials to remind them of early American history. Clearly, they forgot that oppressive taxation will not be tolerated forever.
If the British had only let the market rule, instead of imposing their capricious taxes.....
