Except for Tourists, the M14A Is One Bus Route To Avoid

Submitted by Scott Kahme, Nov 20, 2006 18:08

My daughter depends on the "14A bus to get to and from school. Today she said that 6 14D busses came before an "A" bus came. I ealize that12 year old girls are prone to exageration, however I myself have been left standing long periods as "D" after "D" bus came and went while I waited for an "A". Recently the MTA put accordian busses into service on the "A" line. As expected a cut in service soon followed. These Accordian busses have trouble navigating certain turns (14th St. and Ave. A comes to mind) and clog up the streets in the name of efficiency. Furthermore adding seats on one bus while cutting service only frustrates efforts to get private autos out of the cycle of worsening traffic in Manhattan. I have had to drive my daughter to school on occasion because it takes 10/ 15 minutes to drive her there by car, where it might take 45 mintes to get there by the A bus. This is what the Beauracrats in the MTA call progress. They can keep it. Sincerely Frustrated, Scott Kahme
