Seculars in Turkey are majority Muslims.
Islamist ideology is supported by a minority of Turkish people. The AKP that got only a quarter of the votes does not possibly represent the Turkish people, of which 75% is left unrepresented by the current government, yet these people on power want to impose their ideology on us!
What people seem to forget when they denounce the military statement on secularism, is that it represents the feelings of the majority of the nation. They are defending the dictators against the people! A coup may not be ideal, but we're not dealing with ideal situations in a country that faces its worst threats since its foundation. At the same time a people that faces the worst prejudice in the world over. We have a beautiful but fragile country. If even the Western governments are supporting the rise of islamism in our society, and no-one but the military is going to be our savior, then be it, but please do not judge us exerting our sovereign right to save our country.
Peace at Home, peace in the World!
