Witching Hour In America
in response to reader comment: Wiccans verses God

Submitted by Gryphonelder, May 5, 2007 14:01

Yes, I do think life has evolved and is still in many was evolving, even if folks are doing far more harm to our planet then they think with their crass commercialism. I can't speak for others any more then you can on what they believe or should believe. I have always come back as a person, sometimes male, sometimes female. I believe we all have lessons to learn and go through these lives, sometimes learning, sometimes staying stuck, but repeating what is needed till we learn.

The book bible also has slavery, incest, intentional wars. Are they something we should as a human race follow? Do you eat shellfish? Do you eat pork? The book bible says they are unclean, but people eat them everyday.

Pagans have known far longer that destroying the ecology of any place will kill what ever natural medicines there are as well as many knowing what the medicines will do to help heal. Did you know tobacco was used for healing and now with the recreational use it's killing people? You and I agree that science isn't everything although it helps to teach us many things.

Christopher Columbus was one of the first slave owners of the "Indians" of the islands off the cost of this country that BTW was named after a Portuguese navigator. It has only gotten worse for those of the indigenous peoples after this "godly man" came around. The Spanish with their priests gave unheard of diseases to people who were unprotected, and so did many others who came to this country in later years. These self same "men of god" were behind killing so many people all over the world as they didn't believe the way that particular sect of "Christians" did as well as for taking land etc.... The list could go on for years, quite honestly.

Did you know there was never any mention of hell in the book bible till Dante?

Yes, I did and trying to walk the path as you do and it was not what I am to be doing. I help more people as who I am then if I were to try walking your path. My "creator", the universal Great Mystery, what ever name one chooses to call "Deity" has me on this path to do the most good that I can do for others.

The "Ten Commandments" shouldn't be in our courtrooms or our government. Our country was not founded as a Christian Nation, even though your leaders would have you think so. Our country was "founded" by those running away from religious persecution, even though they later used it on the ones who were here first. Your comment about the missionaries and Africa shows your thinly veiled racism as well. I'm sure their form of culture was just fine for them before the missionaries started putting them into a standard that is not theirs, a culture that is as foreign to them as they are to the missionaries. Again I can liken this to our own country as it happened here, is still happening here.
