After Royal's Loss, French Socialism Faces a Crisis

A few germane points, French socialism in fact came out of the post-war struggle between Communism and Fascism in 1946 on.

OK, so Ségolène Royale lost: however, this does not mean that the underlying French ethos for the "Working Man's State" will evaporate overnight. Far from it!

The rank and file french wish to preserve their almost unique way of life. immigration has threatened this.

After the swing, previously to Jean Marie le Pen, which acted as a Wake Up call to the Centre-Right, who failed, dismally to tackle the problem and worse, tackle the problem of illegal immigration, France has voted to cede power to Sarkozy in the hope that he sorts these problems out.

The exterior Right Wing leaning commentators imagine that once Nicolas is safely ensconsed in the Elyse Place, he will almost instantly throw open the French economy to globalised capital and the branders!

Err, wrong!

If Sarkozy attempts to upset the French way of life too much, then stand by for socialism in the form of nationwide strikes to paralyse the country and force M. le President to think again!
