Shortest of Honeymoons

Submitted by Vanessa Prouty, May 7, 2007 16:42

A few years ago, my husband and I took our college-age son and his pal to France for 2 weeks, a little jaunt which cost us around 8,000.00 (my husband got a bonus). Imagine our joy when: the Metro went on strike, which caused the trains to go on strike, which caused the buses to go on strike, which caused the taxis to go on strike, which closed down all the museums and several churches (!). So, we got to eat ham sandwiches (which is about all that is served in cafes), drink cheap (bad) wine and watch traffic and stranded American tourists go by. The banks were like a bad commercial, open for very short hours, with long lines, and surly "help". France should be begging for Mr. Sarkozy to DO something...ANYTHING. Anyone who disses America needs to see what the "attractive" leftist option really looks like. France works about as well as a Citroen.
