Mayor's Gun Talk Begets a Warning from Rifle Group

Submitted by Janice B., May 9, 2007 16:01

I intend to contact the lawmakers and ask for serious penalties against rifle and shotgun toters who trespass on private lands and who do not produce a hunting and rifle license when approached by the owner. The trespasser and I were face to face. He put his gun down on our property as he feigned to produce his hunting license. He didn't have it with him. I grapped the shotgun, told him he had no right to come onto our property with a loaded weapon. He pulled the shotgun out of my arms. He forcibly took the shotgun from me. I am for citizens to have rights to bear arms, but not like this.. I need a weapon to protect myself from these jerks. I intend to buy one. He and a buddie were hunting w/o permission in woods that we own and frequent. I could have been shot taking a walk, or trimming trees on our land.

The laws are too weak. He should get a $2000 penalty and 30 days in jail. I will contact the politicians to strengthen the laws.
