If only the rest of us Americans could get a $4MM book deal for describing how we screwed up in the events leading to the invasion of Iraq!
But before we are too hard on Mr Tenet, we must remember that some 70% of us were fully behind that war and those of us who thought it was a bad idea did far to little about it.
You and I don't have any prospects of "Book Deals", but even the big dollar reward did not motivate Mr. Tenet to really accept any responsibility for the mess which now self-propogates in Iraq.
The decision to invade Iraq was a broad American failure. We responded to a terrorist attack with exactly the response sought by our enemy. Acting from fear and a hunger for tangible revenge we opted for a military and geographical locus for our muscular action.
We didn't have much of a plan for what came next, and that is what has come to haunt us
If only there were a politician who could speak the truth about this mess we have gotten ourselves into!
