If, as Ms. Miller states, former CIA Director George Tenet, prior to Sept. 11, 2001, proved to be a "colossal failure" whose inompetence helped make possible the devastation of 9/11, why on earth did Pres. Bush subsequently rely on Tenet's advice to invade Iraq, and why would the President honor a disgraced Tenet with a Medal of Freedom?
The answer seems evident: George Tenet's CIA, notably in the infamous President's Daily Brief (PDB) of Aug. 6, 2001 entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.," warned the President that the terrorist threat against the United States was "CURRENT AND SERIOUS." And also as indicated on page 260 of the 9/11 Commission Report, the President discounted the CIA warning in the 8/6/01 document, which Mr. Bush, a graduate of Yale University and a Harvard MBA, told the Commisson he considered to be "historic."
Judging by the 9/11 Commission Report, if anyone failed the U.S. colossally in the days leading up to 9/11, it was President Bush, who so far amazingly has escaped accountability. And therefore it can also be deduced the Medal of Freedom presented to Tenet was "hush" honor.
