This is a classic ploy--defend yourself against accusations that weren't made. You weren't criticized for having written the articles. You were criticized for not vetting the info. What Miller and other "journalists" who stovepiped information to the public from the administration did was to fail to do what good journalists do--question the truth of the information being fed to you, research the accuracy, and don't act as a flack for people who have ulterior motives.
Otherwise you're not in journalism, you're in PR.
Since George Tenet thought about giving back his Medal of Freedom, just one question--when are you giving back your Pulitzer?
