An apotheosis perhaps. Art held up to the gods by the critic. I've held similar concerns with a curator ( city museum) quite recently. The work he held dear was 20 years old (mine) I thought he should show it if he didn't like my newer more narrative work. Seems others are catching up now to my organic abstracts done when painting was mostly figurative or dead depending on who you talked to. Never the less if sir joshua Reynolds had a camera he could have leave the very commercial sycophantic portrait painting to the copyists and the real art to the abstractionists. With or without the deification by critic it is a braver form of creative time with paint.
