The real shame is that City transit will only get $350 million a year instead of the $1 BILLION it should get--and could--if the Mayor traded his costly cumbersome collection system for extending the MTA's E-ZPass collection to the free bridges and across 60th Street. Now that the Mayor has made a strong case for the fees there's no need for the political shell game to avoid the taboo of "tolls." And we don't need another bureaucracy to second guess the MTA --we should make the MTA more reposnsive to borough needs. Start by appointing the borogugh presidents to the MTA Board.
