Hillel Hatkin is offering a rationale and paradigm for piecemeal dismemberment not only of Israel but of many nations including the Uniuted States. Unfortunately his formula has become the standard one for Kadima and Labor as evidenced by the Gaza evacuation and impending West Bank and Jerusalem ones.
That paradigm is that, if enough laborers immigrate into a region from another nation, that region is entitled to secede. But the paradigm does not apply to Jews in neighboring regions. In the latter case the Jews must move out and leave the region Judenrein.
In the southwestern US there is a Chicano movement called MEChA whose purpose is as follows: "Chicano and Chicana students of Aztlan must take upon themselves the responsibilities to promote Chicanismo within the community, politicizing our Raza (race) with an emphasis on indigenous consciousness to continue the struggle for the self-determination of the Chicano people for the purpose of liberating Aztlan."
Aztlan is the combined territory of Mexico and the southwestern states of Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington.
So every people is entitled to self-determination except Jews.
The second of Mr. Hatkin's offensive assumptions is that, for Israel, religious-driven policies are inherently illegitimate. To the contrary, Israel is in so much trouble exactly because the secular governments have been using zero-based policies while ignoriing the Torah. As Exodus 23 says:
"31 ---you shall drive them out from before you. 32 You shall not form a covenant for them or for their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me, that you will worship their gods, which will be a snare for you."
Unarguably Israel would have been far more secure if it had not done the opposite of the Toraic commandment by inviting in large numbers of Arabs as laborers who then became petitioners for the land in which they settled.
