9 Strike Down Death Penalty For Juveniles

Submitted by Aaron Marsh, May 18, 2007 08:55

Hello. My name is Aaron Marsh. I am a senior attending G.W. Hewlett High School and am doing a research paper on the juvenile death penalty. I understand that it has been outlawed to impose the death penalty on people under the age of 18 and I am for this position. I was just wondering if in some extreme cases there will be an exception. Say for example the Columbine shootings. Lets say that the two boys didn't kill themselves after killing 13 people and injuring many others and the death penalty was outlawed when this incident happened. Since one of the boys was 17 years old, would he be facing the death penalty if convicted of his crimes?
