David Ifshin was my second cousin. Unfortunately, I never knew him, even though we were only two years apart. I knew his mother, and his grandfather, who was my grandmother's youngest brother. His grandfather and I were close, and corresponded until his death in Israel. I have come to know my cousin through the eyes of others, from his father, from the speeches made at his funeral by Mr. McCain and by President Clinton, who also counted him among his closest friends, and from speeches such as this. I am proud that he was from my family, and happy that David is still remembered and recalled. I wish I had known him.
