It is one thing to use tax dollars to subsidize the monthly housing costs of a segment of society but to allow them to cash in, to the tune of tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, is an insult to those who scrimped and saved to get enough money to buy their own coops/condos/homes.

I didnlt go on a vaction for 30 years or own one of those new TV sets, etc because I needed that money to pay off my mortgage., even despite paying high taxes. And now, the recipients of some of my taxes are being offered a real estate bonanza? that I worked 30 years to get?
