Though I looked forward to watching Constantine Maroulis bring his 'edgy rocker' stylings to American Idol's season four, I was totally surpised to see how talented he REALLY is! In in The Wedding Singer he was a natural comedien in his supporting role as Sammy, and I was in complete awe -as were the audience members around me- of his well-trained and powerful vocals and his serious acting side in Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. I was not alone; critics used adjectives like "seriously hot", 'extremely impressive', 'stellar performer", etc. to describe his performances during his six months on the Broadway stage, but due to his early departure from AI (sixth place finalist), he never got the chance to show off the depth of his skills as a 'reality' star.
In my opinion, American Idol is a spring board...but the Idol has to have the talent , the willingness to work hard and the desire to succeed in order to create a career for him/herself- especially in the harshly critical eyes of the pros on the Great White Way!
I can't wait to see what he does next in his theater career.
