A New Barber For a New Met

I agree with this article: saw Barbiere twice---both times the overture was muted and had no focus---I was very disappointed. The cast was GREAT--Peter Mattei was magnificent---Damrau looked like Bernadette Peters.Other than providing Sirius Radio, I do not like Gelb's changes: I sincerely believe he has little appreciation of great opera, culture, or what the Met is about. I have been going to the Met since 1960, and I hope he simply does not import Eurotrash--both Butterfly and Barbiere sets were poor: are we know only going to have sets composed of doors? I hope Gelb departs quickly
