It's worth remembering that Vietnam today is an active trading partner, almost on par with China. They had to go through Hell to get there, but like bottled steam, if you don't release the valave a little, you risk a blowup - like the downfall of South Vietnam. It's worth taking the long view with respect to Iraq. We may have no choice but to plan out 30 years to when Iraqis simply tire of anarchy and wish to join what will be by then, a globe of modern, properous nations almost unimaginable today. We can't do it for them any more than we could prop up and guide the Vietnamese.
