Toasting A Legend Of the Opera

I first fell in love with Miss Stevens when she appeared in Carmen in Los Angeles, mid-1940s. I was a young Marine, stationed at El Toro Marine Air Base. Her Carmen was the gala opening night performance of the Metropolitan Opera's touring company. Her "Don Jose'" was George Bolet. Afterwards, I saw her in concert performances on several occasions in my home city of Miami FL. Truly a beautiful woman and a great singer.
