I think that Doc Rivers should not be blamed for the Celtics awful start to the young NBA season. Rivers, who is a good coach has a different team in front of him, and it is going to take him a while to get the best out of his younger players. When Rivers was coaching the Orlando Magic, the squad was built around Grant Hill, and Tracy McGrady, while this Boston squad, the only things going right for the Celtics are that Paul Pierce is playing his heart out, and that there are just too many young players out there, and it is really difficult to find the right lineup to have night in and night out.
Also, the man to blame for the Celtics woes would has to be Danny Ainge, who has no idea what he is doing, and should be fired immediately due to many reasons.
For starters, he has made bad decisions on trades in the past
(ex: Antoine Walker for R. LaFrentz/Szczerbiak trade). Also, what has happened to Al Jefferson, the highly touted high school prospect who could turn out to be the next Dwight Howard.
Ainge, has to get some veteran players in return for his younger players in order to please Pierce, who could demand his way of Boston, if things do not change soon. If the Celtics do part with Ainge, then they should hire someone who could bring in some veteran players, in order to have a better mix of players on the squad.
Rivers, needs to have a proper mix of players on the court to start seeing some positive results. Otherwise, if Rivers is smart enough, he sould resign either sometime soon, or at the end of the season, and look elsewhere like Toronto, or even New York. (or becoming a commentator for the NBA)
Ainge, also made a HORRIBLE decision in picking up big man Michael Olowokandi from the Timberwolves in the Szczerbiak trade. Olowokandi, is one of the worst players of all time, and should not even be in the league. If he is in the league, he should be sitting at the end of the bench reading a book or passing out towels. The Celtics should look to deal him by the trading deadline, because he should become a free agent at the end of the season most likely.
Overall, Danny Ainge has been a bad GM, and should be fired, and whoever replaces him, should be able to acquire some veteran players so a better mix of both younger, and older players can be placed around Pierce in order for the Celtics to make it to the playoffs anytime this century. After Ainge gets kicked out of Beantown, it should be a warning to all coaches and other executives--that Ainge should not be hired as a GM in the NBA again.
