With all of the economic evidence that is available to us, a person would have to be living in a cave, or be an unabashed liberal, not to know that raising taxes usually lowers revenue, and lowering taxes raises it. Kennedy proved it in the 60's, Reagan proved it in the 80's, and Bush proved it in the 90's. Why the hard left in this country cannot or will not process this information and use it to their advantage is a mystery to me. If I were a leftist politician, I would campaign saying that I will lower taxes, raise revenue, and spend the bounty on social programs. Of course, the social programs would be those which would create more constituency for me, but that is the way these people play the game.
