This is unexceptable! I'm absolutely furious. NYS receives probably tens of millions of dollars on sales tax revenue from the pet industry. They also receive tens of millions of dollars on income tax revenue from people employed in the pet industry. Look at all the jobs created from owning pets. And the big question is how much money fron all this tax revenue is put back into fixing the problems created by the pet industry? Example: pet overpopulation. Maybe 1%. We pay enough. This tax will never reach it's intended purpose. It will go into the general fund and stay there. I have rescued hundreds of animals. And every town I asked the politicians for some kind of assistence to help me take care of the situation. These were cases of 25 or more animals running amok. Their answer was always no, our lawyers recommended due to liability that we can't help you. Yet I and many others helped their town with taking away all these strays. I have 20 unadoptable cats and my vet bills exceed 6,000 every year. This does not include litter, food and all the other excessories. NYS should take some of the money they already receive and put it were it belongs.
