It is totally irrational to think that parking is not a requirement when you add the planned amounts of housing and commercial space. At least 25% of the residents would have a car or motorcycle. Even poor residents would have cars, it is just a reality that one needs to accept. The lot would be close to the tunnel and future 7 train stop allowing drivers from New Jersey and Upstate New York to conveniently use mass transit and Penn Station trains. The proposed lot is probably not big enough. Getting parked cars and those cruising for parking spaces off the streets will also help reduce traffic congestion. All that is needed is a ferry on the waterfront located near by.
