when i first heard of this tragic news, my immediate concern was for the hmong people who are trying to make it in the united states. for so many years they struggled in their homeland...and just when things are getting better, they stumble and fall again. does anyone know how successful some hmong people are in Minnesota? They have doctors, lawyers, politicians, businesspeople, consultants, educators, people both in public and private secotors and most importantly, the hmong people have shown that they can survive anywhere and be contributors to society....just like when i first met them back in 1970 during the war and when they supported the CIA.
In short, to hear of a great man like Mr. Vang Pao being charged, i can not believe it. pleople must remember that he fought against those communist who were trying to overthrow the lao government.
at my age, 67, just thinking of the image and respect for this great hmong man and a true leader, to be tried by the hands of the american justice system( a great system, don't get me wrong), is just wrong.
