What is not reported in many reports of the Turkish build up of troops to attack the PKK is that the PKK is not a terrorist orgainsation. It is seen as the liberation movement of the Kurdish people and has the popular support of the majority of the 20 million Kurds in Turkey. This is not Turkey trying to 'stamp out terrorism' but Turkey trying to quash a popular movement. What friends of Turkey should be urging is that Turkey take the lead from the UK and IRA and start political and peaceful negotiations to end this issue which could lead Turkey away from the EU to a much darker place.
