I find it incomprehensible that Rep. Maloney, Rep. Nadler and Rep. Rangel, who represent districts on the island where 9/11 took place, would not support protecting well meaning citizens from providing the first line of defense to another attack. In an open democratic sociey, citizens provide a vital role in assisting law enforcement in preventing another 9/11 or something far worse. Adopting prudent measures - such as the King amendment - could very well prevent harsher measures from being enacted. What do our Representatives think the public's reaction will be to another attack, especially one that could have been prevented by an alert and vigilant populace?
