It may be in his 'America Alone' where Mark Steyn quotes a historian Arnold Toynbee on how civilisations (or cultures, empires) collapse: They die from suicide, not murder. The immigration Bill merely adds another notch to the suicidal process guided by the pseudo-liberal elite both in the US and even more so in Europe Converting the illegals into fully fledged citizens just feels good, it touches the heart, and who could today in the fluffily emotional age object to it. Just the mad neocons, and a handful of people who still use their heads for purposes other than to wear hats in the winter. That the legalisation of illegals will encourages others to sneak in, the Government to lose control of its borders undermining the notion of a national state, and the indigenous tax paying population to bear the burden in more ways than one bothers nobody. It's perhaps what we deserve, and Mark Steyn's barking can do next to nothing.
