I won the office pool. This is ~exactly~ what I said would happen, although the screen going dark did surprise me. Terrific idea. But I predicted there would be no denouement, no catharasis, no little box neatly tied up with a red-green-and-white ribbon. Tony Soprano walked into our lives out of nowhere. He has now walked out of our lives into nowhere. That's what really happens in this world of ours. As far as I'm concerned, David Chase is the only honest auteur in American television.
