Clinton Taps Newly Active Indian Donors

Submitted by Espi, Jun 12, 2007 03:10

It is unsurprising Indian Americans are solidly for Hillary. They will contribute much more than the $ 5 million that Chatwal expects form them. The reason for this unswerving support dates back to Bill Clinton's days when he opened up the H1 skilled worker visa program that allowed thousands of Indians, mainly in the computer software industry to enter the US. Trade acceleration followed. Bill Clinton forced Nawaz Sharief then Pakistan's Prime Minister to wholly withdraw from Indian territory in 1999 when Musharraf invaded Kargil in Kashmir State. Hillary has been a frequent visitor to India and focussed on womens welfare. Despite wealthy Indian Americans gravitating towards Republicans in recent years, the disastrous Bush reign has made most Indian Americans support Democrats in general and Hillary in particular.
