Is Joe McCarthy alive and well? Pete Seeger was a Stalinist at a time in history when most communists fell could be categorized as such. In many parts of the world - including the Soviet Union - large numbers of communists were either uncomfortable about the gulags or suspected they were an invention of western propaganda (of which there was plenty, and it's a bandwagon not everyone has jumped off). It was wrong of communists who realized what was going on in the USSR under Stalin not to speak out against it, even though many of them did it for condonable reasons. Anyhow, it is absurd to suggest that Pete Seeger has only recently gotten off the Stalinist bandwagon. And Ron Radosh's attempt to tar Vietnam and Cuba with the Stalinist brush suggests his own ideological agenda is worthy of an exorcism.
