So far we as Americans have not seen a positive movement by the Iraqi government to make sweeping changes to correct the gaps in ethnic divides which are may be the root cause of sectarian violence. Is this from an inept Iraqi Government who continues to use the excuse that they are a virgin democracy with little knowledge of a stable path to reach unity. Even when we have split the factions into autonomous regions and split the moneitary wealth amounst the factions, we still will be stuck in a Korean era stalemate which will envolve the United States military for some time to come. Real benchmarks are needed to assure real growth in democracy in Iraq and not partitioning an aready factioned country leading to civil war over its riches.
