Major Cable Providers Refuse To Carry English-Language Al-Jazeera
in response to reader comment: its a normal reaction

I have been watching Aljazeera over the last few days - it is such a refreshing look at the world. I switched from CNN the day that Paris Hilton became the main news item on CNN. That day she took precendance over the G8 Summit, Climate Change, Putin's response to the Bush defence shield proposals, Bush's meeting with the Pope, and The Immigration Reform Bills failure in the senate. I'm sure that her story was important (NOT) but to bump global impacting stories for the sake of Paris was simply a bad call on the part of CNN. I have not watched CNN since. I have the advantage of being based out of the US and so can choose to watch Aljazeera. What I have seen is balanced reporting - giving voices to all sides of the middle east debate - and analysis that is intelligent. I am moving to NYC in a few months and really hope that sanity prevails within the minds of the cable providers and that I will be able to get a balanced worldview rather than only one side of the story. Sean
