I live right around the corner and I would go to Izakaya Ten 3 times a week if time and money were no object. It's friendly, the dishes are all good-to-great, and the atmosphere is "hip" without being oppressive. My sister swears that the spicy tuna rolls are the best she's had in NYC so far. Personally, I gravitate toward the more adventurous offerings (like the author) -- mackerel fried gently and topped with a vegetable vinaigrette was particularly delicious, as are the wasabi shumai, which make all the shumai I've ever had taste like they were microwaved from frozen. I highly recommend this little place.
