U.S. Must Act Against Syria To End Killings in Lebanon

Youssef,

Did you read the opinions of most of the retired Mossad chiefs? Mr. Jim Baker perhaps? … They seem to think that Syria is much smarter and much more capable than the démodé conclusion in today's article.

Did you notice that the past few years Syria single handedly outmaneuvered the Americans and their rich Saudi allies, and their Lebanese allies, and many others? Did they succeed because they are stupid thugs? ... If this is the case then what does that say about the enemies of the Syrian regime?

Sorry for the sarcastic tone above. But to those of us from Syrian origin, your careless analysis and the million other similar articles, are dangerous. Dangerous not to the regime (they are stable) but to the country as a whole. We simply want to get a peaceful settlement and move forward. This distorted portrayal of the "evil" regime is making it impossible to move anywhere constructive. The regime figures are here to stay for the next few years at least, and they are not evil and they are not saints… just like the rest of the politicians in the area. Mubarak has ten times more political prisoners as you know.
