I've been disappointed with Ehud Olmert since he was first forced to assume duties as Prime Minister.

The Palestinians have shown no real desire to have peace in the Middle East, I'm sad to say. There were tensions between the Arabs living there and the Jews seeking to settle there, even before Israel was established; Winston Churchill was adamant that Jews be allowed to settle there, and in agreement with Arab leaders in the area, assured them that whatever influx of Jews there would be, precautions would be taken to ensure that the infrastructure and economy would not be overwhelmed. Then, as now, they were less than enthused with a substantial Jewish presence there. The creation of Israel and their subsequent displacement is just a shroud they can use to mask a long running animosity towards the Jews. Hamas and Hezbollah, along with their backers, have made no qualms about destroying Israel. The current Palestinian culture, far from being geared towards a working peace process, is dripping with glorification of homicide bombers to such an extent that children are being inculcated into this death cult.

Olmert is deluding himself by thinking that further surrender of land and jailed terrorists will help the situation. It actually makes Israel appear to be weak and susceptible to terror attacks and world pressure, neither of which bode well for Israel's future.
